Sunday brunches are favorites of all as they are packed with loads of fun and good food. It has its own charm and to indulge in that charm we need to choose our outfit carefully. It can really be a task and may take hours to decide what and what not to wear. It’s that one day when we want to dress up yet not in the mood of partying like crazy. While we dress up in your jackets and best denims to rock the casual look on Friday and Saturday, on Sunday it should be the best staple a man has- the White Shirt. The white shirt is the your greatest multitasker. It can take you from a black-tie occasion to loafing around at the weekend. But just because it’s an all-purpose purchase, that doesn’t mean you can be slapdash about buying one. To get the best-tailored, longest-lasting and most versatile shirt for your money, you also need to understand the industry secrets behind cotton weight, button manufacture, collar construction and ironing techniques. Mr.Button shirts are made of perfect blend of cotton and hence perfect for any season. Layer it up with your jacket or just flaunt the shirt itself, you will not be disappointed in any case. While I chose their wing collar shirt with front pleating detail, you can always go for your basic classic spread collar shirt.
The right white shirt works in situations from business, casual to black tie—and a discerning man knows that some are closer to perfection than others. A crisp white shirt with the right details reveals you as both a professional and a purist who stands apart from the guys in basic blue. The best colours to match your shirt with are navy, black, or any shade of grey. Combining two neutrals together is one of the most classic styles. For a perfect light brunch (not food wise at all), pairing your white shirt with a grey trousers is a win win. I chose Mr Button’s grey checkered trousers and the look was perfect for a sunny day. Matching it with right footwear and accessories is the next step.
For the love of patent oxfords, I chose the dark burgundy color which complemented the look. You can always try some light white sneakers but then to break the neutrals I chose these oxfords which gives you that dandy look for a perfect artsy brunch. Just to add a little bit of art I added a self tie bow tie. Sometimes known as a “freestyle”, the self tie bow tie is a classic style and is mostly worn with a tuxedo. I wanted to play with the freestyle image of it and kept it open hanging on my white shirt- edgy yet casual. There are tons of prints and colors available in the self tie style but I chose the solid blue to keep it simple with the checkered trousers.
The other accessories I chose are the mirrored sunglasses and a dog hook accessory. Its a hook with a metal feather attached to it along with leather thongs. You can easily buy these online mostly available on Alibaba and Asos. The funky feel of this accessory adds en extra oomph to the outfit. You can always attach a metal chain to this and hook it with your wallet, binding safety and fashion together. Keep the watch and belt of same color as your shoe and avoid any loud colors.
The whole idea of dressing up for brunch for me is to come out of that last night hangover, look fresh and kick start the day with style. Another way to look at it is, the better you look, much better you feel. Having fresh drinks and eating some fresh salads definitely helps, but putting on a fresh shirt with a touch of dapper makes the day perfect.
As it gets hotter day by day, white shirt is your saviour and keeps you look fresh all day. Mr button is out with their spring summer collection and you should definitely look out for their collection of white shirts. From color blocking to prints, they have it all. When it comes to trousers, I think this was one of my favorite piece by them. From casual to formal occasion, I can wear these trousers anywhere. Ans yes, checks never go out of style.
So next time you are out brunching with your friends or the special one, don’t forget to amp up your style game and put a little bit more effort to look like the guy who surely knows his game. Till then I play with some props and sip my favorite beer at this sweet location, you guys go have an awesome brunch this weekend. Happy Brunchin!
