Raymond, the name is synonymous with the values of trust, heritage & excellence. A name that has over nine decades epitomized consumer’s trust into its offerings into the company’s unflinching faith in the quality of its product. And when Raymond invites you to its new offering to the world of men’s fashion, you can only expect the best. Last week Raymond launched one of their finest cottons called ‘Raymond Supima’ in the heart of Bengaluru, Indiranagar and I was one of the lucky influencers to attend this event and witness the best, live from the store.
With hundreds of options in cotton available these days, Summers are the perfect time to explore the best in the market. We men surely look out for the lightest yet a long-lasting fabric which is in sync with the trends as well. Raymond Supima is something which fits in all the above categories.
When we look at the world of fabrics, Cotton went through multiple modifications and evolutions through the years. Currently, there are four commercially grown species of cotton – Gossypium hirsutum, Gossypium barbadense, Gossypium arboretum and Gossypium herbaceum. Well, pronunciation aside, the focus is on ‘Gossypium barbadense’. Its long-staple cotton called the American Pima cotton primarily grown in California and Arizona.
While Pima is high-quality cotton, the benchmark in quality is set by Supima (Super Pima). Supima (www.supima.com) is a trade name used by a group of Pima growers who adhere to certain standards of quality and labelling. Only 3% of the cotton produced in the United States ends up with a Supima label.
The primary properties of Supima are that it’s 35% longer and 45% stronger than regular cotton fibers. Supima also has finer strands which are much lighter and more breathable. This makes Supima the perfect fabric to make high-quality cotton clothing, and this was recognized by Raymond with their ‘Raymond Supima’ collection. Raymond has been producing the finest fabrics in India since 1925 and with the ready to wear ‘Raymond Supima’ collection, the legacy only grows stronger. Having been active in the Indian market for almost a century – Raymond is well versed with the demands and desires of the Indian customer, and Supima seems to be the perfect solution for every wish. People usually either compromise with style or comfort, but the ‘cashmere of cotton’ Supima seems to be a luxurious juxtaposition.
The event started with an introduction to Supima by the Raymond’s design and marketing team where they spoke about all the aspects of this fabric and what they have to offer for men in this category. From the formal shirts in whites, blues and pinks to the ever classic polos, there is everything which can keep you sorted for this season.
Showcasing the best of Raymond, the face of the brand Nitin Chauhan was also present at the event. We have seen him on all the media coverage of Raymond and it was a pleasure meeting him in person. From the royal blue suit to casual Supima shirt, he carried all the styles with panache.
The evening was made much special with the warm hospitality from Fairfield Marriott with their special spread of wine and cheese and some amazing desserts. While sipping the wine, all of us took the tour of the store as well which is a paradise for men fashion enthusiast. With ground floor offering the ready to wear category from the brand, the first floor was all about the custom fit. The first floor offers Raymond Made to Measure where you can get the perfect fit which suits your body type.
At the end, it was all about the launch of Raymond Supima which is surely one of the most interesting fabric I have experienced in recent times. With a special love towards the perfect fit shirts, I am surely going to try this one out and suggest you try it too. Also you can try the printed polos which is one of my favorites from the collection. I will be soon showing you how I styled the shirt by the brand in my next post and also will take you through the store through my pictures. Till then here is what I wore at the event, have a look I will see you soon so stay tuned and stay super stylish.
